The river Weser seemed utterly overfished, Zander/pikeperch appeared to be extinct. So after weeks of bad luck in Bremen we pulled out all the stops and took off to Stockholm. “Man forges his own destiny”, they say. The plan was easy, yet promising: How could we possibly NOT catch fish in Sweden? Right…? Wrong!! Of the TWO pikes we actually caught a glimpse of, only ONE faintly touched the lure. No nibbling, no NOTHING.
Luckily, catching a 12-pound pike wasn’t our only ambition. Our stay was a great opportunity to celebrate a small reunion. And, as we all know, fishing is only partly about fish. The area around Stockholm – coupled with wonderful weather – more than made up for the empty buckets. We didn’t take home any fish, but a medium sunburn and many sweet memories. As Per put it so adequately: “It will be one of those weekends that I probably will remember for a long time as one of the better ones I´ve had.” I second that. Cheers, mate!

»(…) one of the better ones I’ve had.« What more can I say? I totally agree with that.
